Murray Park Dental

My husband is an excellent dentist. He opened his new practice in Murray, UT (in the Salt Lake City valley) last year. It is a beautiful practice. It's called Murray Park Dental. I highly recommend going there. Mention this blog post for a friends and family deal :)

I'm married.....and loving it!

On July 19th 2008 Adam and I were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. That is, we were married for time and eternity. It was the best day of my life so far. I was sooooooo happy to be sealed to Adam. The wedding went spectacularly well. The family dinner reception that night was fantastic, and the larger reception last Saturday (August 2nd) was so much fun. Our honeymoon at The Caves resort in Jamaica was better than I could have imagined. Basically, it's all been perfect so far! Pictures of the wedding and honeymoon will eventually make it to http://www.mclachans.com. Also, my facebook profile has some pics up now. Overall I feel very very blessed by God and very grateful. That's it for now. - Julie

Andy's Airplanes

So my brother's 3D-animation company, Eggington Productions, did all the animation for the first episode of Andy's Airplanes, a cool kid's show that is being marketed right now. Here's some previews for it. It's worth buying the DVD for your kids and as gifts for other families. It's real fun, aviation educational, and kids LOVE IT!

And also look at:

UPDATE: My brother went and home video filmed the kiosk that's at University Mall in Orem for Andy's Airplanes. Cool! Click HERE for his blog entry with video.

My Drive, Ode to Joy - the very short movie

Oh yes people, I've done it again. My short film answer to a friend's brilliant short film can be watched/downloaded by clicking HERE. Be aware that this is a 22 MB file, although it only takes 3 min and 23 seconds to watch. This is a sped up movie of my 45 minute commute I often take on the weekends. Fast forward is always funny.

My proposed cure for the common cold

So last week I went to a conference in Ventura, California. I was very happy to be in sunny California while the rest of the nation was in a deep freeze. Granted, it was still chilly in Ventura, but no where near the rest of the country. Check out this cool video of some cars sliding around last week in Portland on the icey roads. I'm going to assume no one was physically hurt. Anyways, I got to the conference fit and healthy....well, "healthy" at least, I'm still working on the "fit." On the third day of the conference I was hit like a tonne of bricks with a nasty cold. Of the five people in the group from Utah, three of us got it bad. Probably about 20% of the other participants of the conference also had the cold by the end of our stay. I know this as the back third of the conference room seemed to become the sick bay, coughing and spluttering abounded. The cold is still lingering in my weakened body a week later and has now moved up from being a chest cold into a head cold. There are pros and cons to this, but that's a tangent. So as I was sitting there feeling sorry for myself, it dawned on me, there is actually a cure for the common cold! It is as follows:

Every human being on the planet, at the same time, has to quarantine themselves for 1 month, maybe 2 months just to be sure.

That's it, that's the cure. Simple and elegent. To my knowledge (and you virologists out there can correct me if I am wrong) the common cold has no natural resevior in anything but humans, unlike the flu. So, with everyone sequestered seperately for 1-2 months, anyone carrying the cold, will fully recover from their cold, and pass the stage of being contagious. Thus, when we all emerge from our quarantine two months later, all the world's cold viruses will have met their end. Can I have my Nobel Prize now?

There she blogs!!!

Well, it's December 4th 2006 and it's been almost a year since I blogged. I'm sort of missing it actually. This year I actually graduated with my PhD, decided what to do with the next phase of my life, and started a postdoc. Life is relatively good. A few hiccups here and there, but good overall. Tonight I'm trying out YouTube.com for the first time and uploaded a fun and silly little Christmas music video my sister, Dad and I made last year. Hope it works! It's Elvis & The Ornament's singing Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me. Merry Christmas everyone!
