Kalani's advice column
Kalani (aka Larn) is my sister. My sister lives with me and is also a graduate student at the same University as me (in a different program). She is a lot more socially savvy than me. I intend to post a fairly regular advice column of Kalani's advice to me. Here's a nugget from a couple of days ago:
"Don't use big words like that or you won't have many friends."
Sagacious.
UPDATE: Shawn's comment: "I capaciously cohere to the cogent commonition conferred by your circumspect and contemplative counterpart."
UPDATE: There is some discussion as to how to spell Kalani's nickname. Is it "Larn" or "Lan." Opinions welcome.

OK-- since most of us are from the US, if you want a strong "R" pronounced in your sister's nickname, then spell it " Larn" ( it rhymes with Yarn).
The way I hear it said, I would spell it "Lan". If you didn't know, though, Lan could be said to rhyme with "Can".
If you want a little more breath in it " Lahn". That could get too gutteral.
" Lawn" could make people pronounce it like "Fawn" with an "L". I like that the best except that she could get mistaken for grass.
If a "Sean" spells it that way, maybe you could go with " Lean". But you know what that would end up like.
"Laun" could be a go . . . .
Boy there. . . really isn't any way to spell that is there. Lahn is probably closest.
